Despite the dumpster fire that my life has been
lately, I was determined to celebrate Purim with my usual creative flair. And
thanks to Amazon I pulled it off! After everything I've been through, my
costume choice seemed obvious: the Operation game! I paired it with some
medically themed mishloach manot. HUGE shout out to Katherine, who was involved
in every part of making my holiday happen, from spending 40 minutes wrangling
persnickety fabric tape to help me affix the pieces of my costume, to helping me
put together all the parts of my mishloach manot, and finally to playing
chauffeur and driving me around town for 2 hours while I made my deliveries on
Purim day!
I didn't feel up to going to shul and was also
concerned about being in a crowd with all the germs floating around, but
thankfully my neighbor Eli Beck did both megilla readings for Rivka Sara and
myself right in the comfort of our own building (and for the 2nd reading, in my
own home!). And I wasn't able to join anyone for the seuda (festive meal),
because my afternoon antibiotic dose runs from 4-7pm, right smack in the middle
of seuda time. But I managed to get all my deliveries done and visited with some
friends and just generally experienced the Purim festivities, and overall had a
wonderful day!
I have tremendous gratitude to Hashem, who
graced me with a good day with minimal pain, adequate energy, and feeling clear
headed instead of foggy on EXACTLY the day I needed it! It's definitely been a
rough few months, and fun outings have been few and far between, but Hashem
granted me a lovely Purim despite everything!
